Both online and in my day-to-day I’ve heard so much buzz about Ruggable. I have heard so many people ask one another, “Have you tried Ruggable?” And further, asking if they like it, etc. So I figured as a Ruggable owner of almost a year I an qualified to finally give a review!
I hope this post can serve as a good resource if you are considering getting one yourself.
So let’s cut to the chase in case you’re looking for a yes or no answer. Would I recommend Ruggable? Yes! Overall I feel like they have tons of great options for whatever space or style you’re buying for. And for me the fact that it is machine washable is really the selling point and makes it certainly worth it.
But now, let’s get into the nitty gritty for those looking for a more in-depth review.
Ruggable rugs are more so a rug cover and rug pad combination. That being said, it’s not a traditional rug that you’d expect. However, the differences are what make it convenient. The cover and pad combo makes stain resistant and machine washable. I have first hand seen these features in action and I’m extremely happy with them!
We do have a light colored Ruggable rug in our living room; this one from the Gray Malin collab. I’ve had so many people cringe at the light color and tell me I’m crazy for having it. However, I have had no issues thus far and every stain as come our easily. My Dad spilled an entire cup of coffee on our rug on Thanksgiving, the stain came out with no problem without even washing the entire thing. I used Folex and worked beautifully. Needless to say if you have kids or pets – this is perfect for you!
More recently as we were doing some spring cleaning we decided to wash it in the washing machine as directed and rolled it back out. I am happy to report that it still looks great!
One thing that many people dislike about Ruggable is that they aren’t as tufted as a regular rug. However, I personally don’t see an issue with that. I personally feel that higher pile/tufted rugs are kind of gross and I think you never truly get it clean. I’d personally rather be able to see the crumbs and such so I can clean it rather than hide it. I have a handheld vacuum that I keep handy to pick up anything I see day-to-day.
If you do prefer a more tufted rug, Ruggable does now offer that option! Technically Ruggable offers four different combinations; flatwoven rug cover or tufted cover combined with a standard or cushioned rug pad.
My living room rug is flatwoven with the standard rug pad – which I felt confident in choosing as it is the area that sees the most traffic in our home. Recently I bought a rug for near our sink (from the Bridgerton collection) that is flatwoven with the cushioned rug pad. I must say the cushioned pad is extremely comfortable – perfect for somewhere you’ll be standing on it a lot, like in the bathroom or by the kitchen sink. However, I personally wouldn’t get the cushioned rug pad for a living room. Overall, I feel like the recommendations Ruggable makes on their website are good to follow!
The biggest con of Ruggable rugs are the “installation” process. It’s not an issue with smaller rugs, but larger ones it can be a challenge. They offer you instructions on how to roll it out, which I do recommend doing. Overall it still is tough and definitely gives off building Ikea furniture vibes. For a larger rug you’ll definitely need two people – preferably someone you’re willing to argue with – haha. The rug cover essentially velcros to the rug pad – so you can image how that can get difficult. But at the end of the day I do think it is worth it and I would recommend Ruggable!

I hope this gave you all some valuable insight into Ruggable and if it is right for you. If you have a Ruggable piece let me know how you like it and if you have any tips for caring for it – or rolling it out.
Cheers!
