Rainy Day Activities at Walt Disney World

July 10, 2024 · In: Disney World, Travel

Summer is officially here which means Florida has two types of weather; super hot or super rainy. It can definitely put a damper on your day when the forecast calls for rain and can sometimes call for a change in plans!

Today I wanted to share some fun rainy day activities for you and your family while at Walt Disney World. And honestly, some of these can even be used when it’s just too hot outside to handle it, or if you’re having a rest day.

Enjoy!

Spitsville Luxury Lanes

Splitsville is certainly an underrated activity at Walt Disney World! This bowling alley is truly a destination. We have always had so much time each time we’ve gone here – and the food is amazing. It’s a great way to spend a few hours in the AC and it’s fun for the whole family. Check out my full review of Splitsville here from 2019.

Resort Community Halls

At select deluxe resorts you can check out the Community Hall, an indoor area of the resort dedicated to arts, crafts, and other activities! From ceramic painting, to coloring, to board games, and even DVD rentals – there is something for the whole family! There is a combination of paid and complimentary activities and the Cast Members are always excited to help you out. Check out Community Halls at Saratoga Springs, Bay Lake Tower, Boardwalk, Animal Kingdom Lodge (Kidani Village), Old Key West, and Riviera.

AMC Dine-In Theatre

Want a unique movie theatre experience on your rain day? Look no further than Disney Springs! This theatre has luxury seating plus you can order a full food and beverage menu to get delivered right to your seats. This makes for a fun and unique movie experience you may not have at home.

Take A Monorail Loop

A rainy day can make the perfect time to explore the monorail resorts! Hop aboard the Disney monorail either at the transportation and ticket center, at Magic Kingdom, or at select resorts. Take a trip around the loop and stop at Disney’s Polynesian Resort, Disney’s Contemporary Resort, and The Grand Floridian Resort. Check out the shops, grab a bite to eat, and enjoy the atmosphere. You won’t pay anything to ride the monorail making it a great free activity!

Cirque Du Soliel – Drawn to Life at Disney Springs

The Cirque Du Soliel show at Disney Springs, Drawn to Life, is the perfect rainy day activity that your family will not forget! This show takes the magic of Cirque Du Soliel and Disney magic and wraps it into one breathtaking performance. We had the privilege of going in 2022 and highly recommend it! It was fun for the whole family – toddlers to adults. It’s truly a MUST DO if you have the time.

Plan A Water Park Day

You may see this and think “isn’t this list ideas for things to do on a rainy day?” And my answer is – yes! If you know anything about Florida rain – typically it doesn’t last long. While there are some exceptions – normally storms last a hour or less. And Disney will always close facilities if it’s unsafe for guests, so you know you’re in good hands. Growing up we always went to the Disney water parks when there was rain in the afternoon forecast. This scares many people away and results in a super empty park! If it does rain you can easily wait it out in the gift shop or under shelter. To this day this is one of my favorite pro tips.

I hope you all enjoyed these ideas for your Disney World rainy day! Be sure to subscribe to my email list for more Disney and travel content – amongst other things.

Cheers!

xoxo

Spent the last week soaking up some amazing sunshi Spent the last week soaking up some amazing sunshine weather on HHI - surrounded by family & friends🌊🤍 It was a great way to get some major R&R after these past months of treatment.

We’re spending this week at our happy place - Disney - to close the chapter out on the summer before we head into fall🍂
The Summer I Went Through Fertility Treatment🤍 The Summer I Went Through Fertility Treatment🤍

No, I’m not pregnant. Yet🤞🏼
I’m finally ready to share what my world and entailed the past year or so.

We got married in 2021 and like many couples decided to wait a few years before trying to have a baby. 2 years passed and we decided we were ready. Little did we know that would start a journey filled with heartbreak and frustration.

A year came and went - no positive tests. So the obsession started; tracking ovulation, supplements, bloodwork. You name it - I’ve probably tried it! I went to my gynecologist and got put on a dreaded waiting list for an HSG. 5 months later no call back. So I decided to call a fertility clinic in January 2025, they saw me two days later.

With a fabulous team of doctors, NPs, PAs, and nurses I got to where I am now. I have no diagnosis, and neither does my husband - bloodwork good, egg quality amazing, no cysts, fallopian tubes functioning, etc. On paper I’m good and still a mystery!

We opted for 3 rounds of IUI’s, all unsuccessful and traumatizing. So onto IVF.

I’ve spent my last few weeks getting injection after injection, so much bloodwork, so many ultrasounds. And today we went do Maryland for an egg retrieval.

This was not the summer I was imagining, but I’m so beyond thankful I was able to have this journey (and also get most of it paid by insurance😉). So now we wait on our 17 mature eggs🙏🏼

I will likely keep my embryo transfer journey private until I have a confirmed pregnancy. But getting all of this off my chest I feel comfortable to post and share again🫶🏼

If you are going through an infertility journey - whether it’s been short or long. I pray for you. I grieve for you. I am you! My heart breaks for you.

Unhelpful and hurtful comments will be deleted. 🚫“just relax!” “get drunk” “it’ll happen when you least expect it!”🚫

A special thank you to my handful of friends who have been my angels on earth this year. You know who you are✨
