My Desk Makeover – Featuring J. Shotmeyer

June 18, 2021 · In: Lifestyle

If you follow me on Instagram, you may have seen I recently gave my desk area a makeover! I’ve had this desk for about a year now, but I never did it up to what I wanted it to be. Over the past year, I mainly used it for school and doing my makeup, but now that I am doing the blog full-time it was time for a change!

I just wanted to take a moment to thank J. Shotmeyer for sending me the wonderful art piece of The Colony in honor of our recent wedding. If you want, you can read more about our wedding. But, go check out Jenna’s artwork for sale and follow her on Instagram – she is so talented!

Let’s start with the main pieces. The desk is from the Opalhouse line at Target, which is absolutely one of my go-to’s for home decor. By the grace of God, this desk is still in stock! When I got mine last year it was incredibly difficult to get, but it appears to be in stock in both white and navy. If you’re planning on ordering this, please keep in mind there is both a console table and the writing desk for sale – two different pieces, but they look similar! We also have the navy side tables as our bedside tables, which I also recommend.

I got my chair on sale at Pier 1 when our local store was closing last year. It was actually bright red and I spray painted it gold, and it turned out pretty well if I do say so myself! But places like Williams Sonoma have ones that are similar if you’re willing to spend some money. However, you can get a similar look with a more common, and more affordable, Chiavari-style chair!

On the left side of my desk, I have this $10 lamp from Target – I didn’t want a typical desk lamp with a bright LED light because my eyes are super sensitive. Plus, my room has great natural light during the day, so the lamp is strictly used at night. I also got this cube timer from Amazon! There are tons of these with different time values on each side, so I went with a 5-15-30-60 setup. This will really help me with motivating myself to do difficult tasks.

Finally, I have some new stationery from Sincerely C. Paper Co. that I keep easily accessible in this acrylic mail holder from Amazon. I thought it was a great way to display my stationery, since it is so pretty, and it will keep me organized!

For my computer setup, I decided to get a stand for my laptop. I love this one because it has legs, and the acrylic doesn’t clutter the space. I also got a wireless keyboard and mouse – I am hoping the combination of these three pieces will help my posture by keeping me from hunching over.

To accessorize the space a bit, I purchased this mousepad from Caitlin Wilson Designs, which is a beautiful blue and white floral print. And the weekly planner notepad is by Day Designer from Target (which I couldn’t find online, but this is similar). To help with my laptop charger and lamp cords, I got these peel and stick cord organizers to guide the cords behind my desk for a cleaner look.

To complete the desktop, I have a rattan pencil cup (which match these picture frames perfectly), this amazing soy candle from The Preppy Podcast by Patricia Maritsch (if you don’t listen already, you should check it out), and of course some fresh hydrangeas I have in a vase from an antique store (here is a similar set).

Finally, I have some framed photos and art hanging above my desk. The watercolor print of The Colony was kindly gifted to me by the artist who made it, J. Shotmeyer. She is so talented and has some great preppy and Palm Beach art pieces! I encourage you to check out her other prints and clothing line on her website and follow her on Instagram. The frames on the left are from Amazon, and I just have two photographs from our wedding printed and displayed; I felt like the colors really complemented the art print.

I hope you all enjoyed this little desk tour and I hope it gave you some inspiration if you are looking to complete a project like this! If you have any questions, you can always connect with me in the comments below, via email, or on Instagram. Be sure to subscribe to my email list as well to be notified the next time I post.

Cheers!

xoxo

Officially in the third trimester🤰🏻💕 When Officially in the third trimester🤰🏻💕
When I found out I was pregnant this time around I was scared to take weekly pictures after losing our first baby girl last year. So at 12 weeks Grant finally convinced me, and while I don’t *love* the way I look I know one day I’ll be so thankful to have these📸 If I only get to experience pregnancy once in its entirety, I want to have no regrets - and these photos are just one step of that. Experiencing infertility and loss makes you look at pregnancy in a different way, and it’s not something I want to take for granted💖

The destination for this trip changed multiple times - initially we were going to Kiawah, then the Finger Lakes, and here is where we ended up😅 After not being able to go to the Finger Lakes a few weeks ago due to Canada wildfires we decided a few days in the sunshine state wouldn’t hurt☀️ #babymoon #maternityfashion #hillhouse

Loving this swimsuit combo - maternity suit from @amazonfashion and the best coverup from @hillhouse (wearing a M and more than big enough for the bump!)
