The Pink Retreat 2018 – My Experience At The Ultimate Lilly Pulitzer Getaway

November 13, 2018 · In: Fashion, Lilly Pulitzer, Palm Beach, Travel

********** UPDATE **********
I’ve written The Unofficial Guide to The Pink Retreat 2019! This guide has all the information you may need for the weekend – I have included a printable schedule, recommendations on where to dine, transportation information, where to shop for Lilly (on and off the island), free and paid activities to do if you have some down time, and the best photo spots in Palm Beach. Check it out here!
******************************

Hey y’all!

So you may have seen my post about The Pink Retreat 2019 registration. I decided to make a post for you all about my experience with the first Pink Retreat that took place in June 2018. I am so excited to share my experience and thoughts with you, and hopefully it will encourage you to come next year! ALSO, if you prefer more video-like content I have a Story Highlight on my Instagram @TheNorthernPrepster documenting my weekend at The Pink Retreat.

The Pink Retreat took place June 22-24, 2018 conveniently over the official first day of summer which happens to be National Wear Your Lilly Day! I want to apologize in advance for the photo quality and lighting. These were originally for my personal use so they are just taken with my iPhone.

Friday June 22nd – Registration and Happy Hour at Coyo Taco in Palm Beach

The cocktail menu had a Lilly Pulitzer flare! Thanks to the event sponsor Lilly Pulitzer, we all got 1 drink of our choice free of charge. I am under 21 so I had The Pink Tail, but it was yummy!  They also had their food menu available for us to purchase any food we would like.

The Pink Tail – Orange Juice, Cranberry, and Ginger Ale

The highlight of the evening was definitely getting to meet President/CEO of Lilly Pulitzer, Michelle Kelly. Also that Lilly Pulitzer Packable Tote I am holding over my shoulder? THAT was our SWAG BAG! Each lady received one embroidered with her monogram and filled with goodies from other sponsors and flip flops from Lilly Pulitzer. None of us could believe it! We were thrilled!

Saturday June 23rd – Rick Rose Worth Ave Tour, Shopping Event at Lilly Pulitzer Gardens Mall,

and Uptown Art Paint Night

Worth Ave walking tour with Rick Rose. He taught us about some of the most iconic spots on the Avenue and shared history of architecture and other details.

The store front where Lilly Pulitzer’s infamous juice stand and store once stood.

Photo booth at The Gardens Mall shopping event! They had complimentary snacks and refreshments for us, as well as a LIVE Lilly Pulitzer paint artist who raffled off her work at the end of the day.

Everyone who shopped that day received a FREE Lilly Pulitzer piece, hand drawn by Lilly artists. Each one was totally different and matted ready to frame. It’s awesome how we all got a tiny original piece to take home with us.

We painted a Mermaid’s Cove inspired piece at Uptown Art Paint Night! This was the instructor’s painting.

Everyone put their own flare on their painting and made it their own. I obviously had to make my mermaid brunette!

Our sponsor for that evening, Fairy Godmother Travel, provided snacks, wine, The Pink Retreat champagne glasses for us to take home, and even had giveaways throughout the night! I won a $50 Lilly Pulitzer gift card!

Finished products with my friend Krista (@disneykismet)!

Sunday June 23rd – The Breakers shopping event & Farewell Brunch at Ta-boo

One of the beautiful ballrooms at The Breakers where our Sunday shopping event was held. The Breakers gave everyone who shopped a free gift with purchase, which was super sweet!

Farewell Brunch at Ta-boo. One of my favorite places to eat on the Island!

The Traditional Eggs Benedict was delicious! I was also pleasantly surprised of the portion size and the price. It was a steal for a good brunch in Palm Beach!

Saying good-bye to The Pink Retreat founder, Tosha, and friends Krista and Maura.

Well that is about it! It was a whirlwind of a weekend and I am so excited for 2019. I’m sure next year will be even more fun! If you have any questions about The Pink Retreat be sure to comment, shoot me a DM on Instagram, or send me an email!

Thanks for reading!

xoxo Jayme

💫My Short Review of Epic Universe💫 *as a Dis 💫My Short Review of Epic Universe💫
*as a Disney annual passholder*
(blog post & YouTube video coming soon)

‼️TLDR: Overall it was as chaotic as I expected so I was neither impressed nor disappointed. However I’m unsure how things will suddenly be running smoothly at the opening that’s just 2 weeks away.

✨I’ll start with our highlight which was mainly Super Nintendo World! I was a big Nintendo kid so this was very anticipated for me. While the rides were meh the land is extremely immersive. I do wish we had more time to explore the games you can play with the power up bands!

🍔As for food we didn’t eat a ton but had lunch at Oak & Star Tavern (BBQ) which was much better than I expected! Not the best theme park food I’ve ever had but definitely better than anything I’ve had at Universal in the past. We also got a frozen melon apple drink in Nintendo that was perfect for a hot day!

🐉Isle of Berk was cool overall but for such a niche IP I wasn’t really interested. The one ride we rode in the land - Hiccup’s Wing Gliders - ended up being our favorite!

🧟‍♂️Dark Universe was a tad underwhelming. I was really looking forward to it but it didn’t really do it for me. At night it was cool but the ride wasn’t as good as I was expecting. I’ve heard quotes that this is the “most technologically advanced ride in the world” and that’s simply not true. However the ride wasn’t as scary as I thought it would be!

🇫🇷Magical Paris was neat despite me not being a Harry Potter fan. It really felt like Paris! However the lack of attractions there is a huge problem.

🎢Despite it being technical rehearsals to me does not justify the amount of rides that were either completely shut down or broke at some point. Only 2 attractions in the entire park had zero issues all day. We rode 4 attractions since everything else was closed (2 would’ve caused motion sickness). I don’t see how these will magically be working in 2 weeks. The closures caused long wait time and chaos in every aspect. At opening they had no system for filtering people into queues in a reasonable manner. Something Disney figured out decades ago.

Glad we went and experienced something new! #epicuniverse

I snagged this iconic tweed jacket from @lillypulitzer most recent sale and I’m obsessed - I got the matching dress and can’t wait to wear it as a set💚

I’m also loving this belt from @jmclaughlin 🤍 As someone who struggles to find belts curated to my style when I saw this I fell in love. I finally snagged it in Newport Beach a few weeks ago and I’m obsessed! It truly elevates every look👏🏼
