Hi y’all! I did a poll on my Instagram (follow me if you don’t already) and y’all voted that you wanted me to share hostess gift ideas for the holiday season. These may be a little different than you’re used to, but I wanted to include items that aren’t bottles of wine or a scented candle lol.
If you haven’t already, be sure to check out my other gift guides from this year and last year to get more inspiration for everyone on your list. Let’s get into it!
Gifts The Family Can Enjoy
For years, my family hosted a holiday party at our house. We even brought it back last year, but I’m not sure if we’ll do it again this year. The worst part was us kids putting tons of hard work into the party along with our parents and not being able to enjoy the gifts the attendees brought (usually a bottle of wine). I’m not saying it isn’t a nice gesture to bring a nice bottle of wine, but if they are family-oriented parties, keep the kids in mind!
This is such a unique gift that I found on Uncommon Goods. This piece can be customized with the family name engraved in it. And the pieces themselves are letters of your choice! You can either pick 2 different letters (such as Mom & Dad’s initial, or if there are 2 kids you can do their initials), or just one letter, and in that case half of the letters are stained and others are not, as seen in the picture. At $50 I think it’s a great price for a custom gift! And it’s something the family can enjoy for a long time.
There are a wide variety of Edible Arrangements to choose from and there is something for every budget! You can go with one of their seasonal options or one of their every day arrangements. This is a great dish to bring to a party for everyone to enjoy, or a gift to send a few days later as a “Thank You!” Aside from fruit arrangements, they also offer chocolate covered strawberries, specialty apples, and more! We received a few of these when I was growing up, and we always loved them.
This is definitely a gift for a specific person – someone you know has a record player. But there’s nothing like listening to Christmas music on a vinyl record. While I have a “modern” record player, my Dad has a vintage Edison record player (that requires special vinyls) that’s a great conversation piece at parties. I think the gift of a great holiday album on vinyl can be a really special gift that the whole family can enjoy year after year. I would personally recommend the Michael Buble Christmas album or Pentatonix’s Christmas album.
Splurge Items
These items are definitely luxurious items and definitely not for everyone. But if you have room to splurge this holiday these are just a few pieces to keep in mind!
As y’all may or may not know, I am kinda obsessed with alpaca goods lol. Socks, gloves, hats, scarves… you name it, I have it. There is nothing as soft and as cuddly as an alpaca blanket! I actually found one on Amazon for only $80, which is a steal (linked above). However, I do encourage you to find a local alpaca farm and buy from them (a blanket would probably run you upwards of $100 depending on the farm). Support small business! And for those of you who are not aware, these goods are made with alpaca wool. Alpacas are sheared just like sheep, and when done properly they are not harmed.
I am completely aware that this is SUPER extra lol. But who wouldn’t want to open a little blue box? Tiffany’s has quite a few ornaments available this year starting at $75. However, you don’t need to spend a lot to give a blue box! Tiffany’s offers a variety of wine glasses, martini glasses, and more starting at only $25 each!
For Food & Drink Lovers
Any time someone is getting a host/hostess gift, the default it a bottle of wine, a box of chocolates, or perhaps a cheese/meat gift set. Those are all great ideas! But why not get something that will last longer? After hosting a party we all know what comes with it… Leftovers! The last thing I personally want during the holiday season is more food to tempt me lol. Here are some options that aren’t edible 😉
Y’all have seen me talk about Cora’s Den before. It is one of my favorite Etsy shops! She offers a variety of monogrammed coasters, whether they are Lilly printed, two initials, three initials, or even on wood. And if you’re wondering, a couple’s joint monogram should be ordered Her First Initial, Married Last Name, then His First Initial. Typically you’d get First Initial, Last Initial, Middle Initial. These run about $30 for a set of 4.
This cheese board from Mark & Graham is a beautiful piece! I will admit, a cheese board is a typical host/hostess gift. But I think the marble and the option to personalize it makes it really unique. Who doesn’t use a cheese board during the holiday season? I also love that it comes in white and gray.
Yours, Mine, & Ours Decanter Set
Just like the cheese board, this offers a more modern and unique twist on a classic decanter set. Somewhat whimsical and fun! Plus, it’s dishwasher safe. Huge score in my book! It’s only $50, making it budget friendly. Pair with the couple’s favorite bottle of wine for the ultimate gift.
For the Fandom Host & Hostess
As my generation gets older, the people who grew up in the Disney Renaissance (1989-1999) or grew up reading Harry Potter are now the hosts themselves! Why not gift them something that will make them smile this holiday season? After all, fandom merch has only been getting better and better over the years and is now actually useful lol.
Okay, I know this would be kinda bizarre as a hostess gift… But what Disney lover wouldn’t love this?! Unlike other (more affordable) Disney waffle makers, this one makes the exact size/shape that you buy at Disney resorts! It’s sold out numerous times, and I’m crossing my fingers that it stays in stock throughout the holiday season.
Harry Potter Golden Snitch Snack Bowl
In case you haven’t heard, Pottery Barn has released an entire Harry Potter line. And it’s actually not tacky…? There is a wide array of home products and dish ware, but this one was one of my favorites, and under $40. If you’re looking to go under $20, they have a Hogwarts Holiday Crest mug that would be perfect for the season!
That’s a wrap, y’all! I hope y’all enjoyed this gift guide. This was probably one of my favorite ones to write thus far. If you have any recommendations on gift guides you still want to see, comment below or connect with me on Instagram! I can’t wait to hear from you!
Thanks for reading!
