WE GOT OUR DATE – Wedding Planning Diary No. 8

May 6, 2020 · In: Wedding Planning

Okay y’all, it has been SO HARD to keep the secret for the past few days… BUT WE GOT OUR WEDDING DATE!

We (jk actually Grant) wanted to wait until we signed our contract to publicly share, however considering that won’t be for about 2 weeks from now I can’t stand to wait anymore! But you could say that “The Force” was with us on May the 4th, because at 9:55 am we got an email from our wedding planner and we got EVERYTHING we wanted!

We were both genuinely shocked that we got EVERYTHING we wanted for our wedding day. We got our priority date, May 4th, as well as our time, reception/ceremony location, AND Cinderella’s Glass Carriage!

Once we picked our jaws up off of the floor, told our parents and wedding party. And honestly, everyone was equally surprised that we got all of our boxes checked. Even our wedding planner wasn’t convinced we’d get everything – since May 4th is a high demand date (because Star Wars) and the Carriage only does 1 wedding per day. Needless to say we are pleasantly surprised and absolutely thrilled!

May 4th was our top choice for date and we knew that they booked everything exactly one year out on their end, but we really weren’t sure if they would contact us that day or not. Naturally, we were super excited when the email came through! A few weeks before our date we were nervous because we had emailed our planner & she had told us she was getting furloughed. She had given us an alternative email (a basic Disney Weddings email) for us to contact if we had any questions and told us that someone else would be booking us. However, when we contacted that email a few days later she responded to it..? I’m still not exactly sure what happened with that, but I guess it doesn’t matter now lol.

So let’s get into the details! Where are we getting married? What time? Etc.

Date: Tuesday May 4th, 2021

Ceremony: Disney’s Wedding Pavilion at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa – 9:30am

Reception: California Grill at Disney’s Contemporary Resort – 10:30am-3:30pm brunch

Like I said before, we got everything we wanted right down to the carriage and brunch reception! While I don’t know too many people personally who have had Disney weddings, I have to say this is pretty rare. One thing they ram into your head at your first meeting is that you’ll have to be flexible & you most likely will not get all of your first choices – which is why you provide them with 5 choices. I think the one thing we had on our side is that we chose a date during the week (despite it being a high demand date) and we wanted a morning ceremony and brunch reception.

Our email containing our information not only included that, but information on payment, our contract, as well as room blocking. We filled out our information as well as our room blocking the day we received the email. Now we are just waiting to sign our contract as well as a link to pay our down payment. Everything is officially reserved for us, it just takes some time to write up the documents on Disney’s end. We were told at the beginning of the planning process that it can take up to one month after we get our date to sign the contract.

I’ll be doing a HUGE blog post sometime soon that includes more in depth information including pricing. I’ve also decided to do a separate blog post about room blocking because it can get a bit confusing.

I just want to thank you all for reading along with this journey! I’m so grateful that so many of you have been so intrigued with this topic. This definitely isn’t your average wedding so I appreciate y’all bearing with me.

//

Until next time!

xoxo

While this Christmas photo looks different than pl While this Christmas photo looks different than planned this year, I hope you all have a very Merry Christmas surrounded by peace and love🫶🏼

My prayer is that next year brings the blessings we hoped and prayed for this year, whether those things are big or small.

Some tidbits from our trip as a NYC first-timer🚕

We stayed at @omniberkshirenyc - overall we enjoyed our stay! The location was perfect (right in between 5th Ave & Madison Ave) and was a short walk to Rockefeller and Central Park. Only complaint is that the rooms were very hot (75*+). They also had valet parking that we utilized. We drove into the city and while time consuming it wasn’t as stressful/difficult as we had imagined. I’d certainly drive in again.

Our highlights were @therockettes and walking through Central Park. We walked everywhere with the exception of a boat ride we did. We booked a car through RideLux for that which I do not recommend, about equal service to Uber for 2x the price.

The boat ride with Classic Harbor Line felt like it wasn’t worth the $100/pp price tag. Seeing the Statue of Liberty up close was neat, but that was about it. Also, if you get sea sick CHL is NOT for you!

Shopping overall was underwhelming, but we did hit the classic FAO Schwarz which regardless of the long line this time of year was a must-do! We got there 10min before opening and only waited about 10min after opening to get in.

As for dining we did some quick spots around the city including Springbone Kitchen - perfect for a fast casual but healthy meal - we did pick up and took it to our room! Ralph’s Coffee in UES was also on my must-do list and honestly it didn’t disappoint! I’ve been to the Paris and NYC locations now and both times it’s been delicious and the perfect drinking temperature, even if you do have to wait a bit. For dinner we got a same day reservation for BG at Bergdorf’s - the food and service were great and reasonably priced imo!

I’m so happy we got to experience NYC at Christmas as it’s been on my bucket list my entire life! I love a trip filled with firsts, since they’re what make lasting memories!✨

✨48hrs in NYC✨ Somehow at 27 I had still never ✨48hrs in NYC✨
Somehow at 27 I had still never been to NYC until now🌃 I’ve always dreamed of going to NYC as a little girl, especially at Christmas! Today dreams came true with a visit to Radio City Music Hall to see @therockettes and it did not disappoint👏🏼 I’ll be sharing more tidbits from my trip over the next few days🚕

*also brownie points to whoever can tell me where this iconic townhome is from😉*

30 hours at the most festive place on earth🏰🎄

We booked this trip after my miscarriage so we could get out of town, even just for a night, and embrace ourselves in holiday magic✨ While nothing will take away the pain and heartache, distractions help the days pass faster🤍

Next week we’re off to NYC for a few days full of firsts!🚕 Defintiely nervous but excited for this bucket list trip✅
