Hey y’all! Epcot’s International Flower & Garden Festival is in full swing here at Walt Disney World. A few weeks ago Grant and I went and tried a ton of treats and wanted to share them with you! I also have vlog footage from our Flower & Garden adventures on my YouTube channel which you can watch HERE. But let’s get into it!
For those of you who are unfamiliar with Disney World and their festivals, Flower & Garden Festival is a festival that takes place every Spring. This year the festival runs from March 6th until June 3rd. Disney’s festivals are most well known for their food, but you can also go and take advantage of hands-on experiences. Flower & Garden for example offers activities for kids (including a butterfly garden), different paid workshops/tours, a concert series, and so much more. There truly is something for everyone! But today I’m going to focus on just some of the dishes and drinks you can try at the Flower & Garden Festival in 2019. All opinions are my own and are based off of my tastebuds and experiences.
Cider Flight from Arbor – $9.50
I am not a big alcohol drinker, and neither is my boyfriend Grant. I truly don’t like anything that has a strong alcohol taste. However, Grant does like a good hard cider so we decided to try this flight. This flight included tastes of Original Sin Brewery Black Widow Hard Cider, Florida Beer Co. Caribe Strawberry Rose Hard Cider, and 3 Daughters Brewing Key Lime Apple Hard Cider. I can honestly say we enjoyed all of these! The Black Widow was a black cherry flavor, the Strawberry Rose was a true strawberry flavor – our favorite, and the last one in our opinion didn’t have much of a key lime taste, but we could taste the apple. I highly recommend this if you like ciders! We will definitely be getting this again.
Score: 5/5
Violet Blueberry Vanilla Croissant Doughnut from Taste Track – $6.50
I would say the highlight of this was the vanilla custard-like filling in the middle. The donut itself was good, but just a little too crispy for our liking. We prefer a cake-like donut. It was very sweet as well. Loved trying it, but wouldn’t get it again.
Score: 3/5
Honey Tandoori Chicken Flatbread from Honey Bee-stro -$5.50
This was really yummy! The only thing I personally wasn’t a fan of was the peppers, but that is a personal thing. The serving wasn’t impressive for the price. But overall it was pretty good.
Score: 4/5
Crispy Citrus Chicken from The Citrus Blossom – $5.75
People have been talking crap on this and I’m not sure why lol. It was really good! It was honestly my favorite food we tried. It is a tad “Plain Jane,” but something doesn’t need to have 8395 ingredients and toppings to be delicious! The serving size was great (the way it was served to us anyway) and I wish there was a sit-down that offered this. Despite it being breaded it is gluten free and it’s also a great choice for kids!
Score: 5/5
Orange Cream Slush from The Citrus Blossom – $14.00 (served in Orange Bird sipper)
I’m not going to lie. This is the most disgusting Disney beverage I’ve ever tasted. I’ll give it I’m not a HUGE citrus person. But I’m all about slushes! This. Is. NOT. A. Slush. This was more like a lukewarm milkshake. I took off the top of the sipper and it was opaque in color. No ice/ice shavings involved like a slush should have. If you like orange creamsicles, this is for you! If not, skip it. Kids would love this because it is so sugary and sweet.
Score: 1/5 for Taste, 5/5 for the Sipper Cup Aesthetic lol
Grilled Street Corn on the Cob from Trowel & Trellis – $5.50
This was okay overall! I would have preferred a garlic butter instead of the garlic spread. It was just a tad grainy and got stuck in my teeth easily. It’s nice that you do get the whole ear of corn since you are paying so much. I have heard that this can be a questionable dish since it can be undercooked at times. I don’t think I would personally get it again because of the grainy topping. This booth’s food offerings are all vegan for those of you interested!
Score: 3.5/5
Toasted Pretzel Bread from Bauernmarkt – $5.25
So I had really high hopes for this, and I am sure if we had it fresh it would have been much better! But I am going to score this off of my experience. It was really dry, and the cheese was hard and crusty. Not impressed, especially for over $5. Would not get again, despite it probably being better if it was fresh.
Score: 2/5
Spicy Blackened Shrimp and Cheddar Cheese Grits from Florida Fresh – $7.00
This dish is probably second place for me! It was a good serving size and the different tastes and textures were great. Not sure if I would get it again just because I want to try different things. But definitely toward the top of my list!
Score: 4.5/5
La Vie En Rose Frozen Slush from Fleur de Lys – $10.75
Y’all. This Epcot trip was truly iconic for me. I found 4 different alcoholic beverages I actually enjoyed! Since turning 21 in January I have only found one other adult beverage I would purchase again (mango moscato wine slush from Amorette’s at Disney Springs). I tried this drink because so many people say how much they love it. If I’ve learned anything since joining the Disney community it’s that you cannot trust anyone’s food reviews lol. The items that always seem to be the most popular amongst others are typically not even that good. This was AMAZING though. This drink is made of Grey Goose Vodka L’Orange, St. Germain Liqueur, White and Red Cranberry Juice. It was delicious!
Score: 5/5
