Hey y’all! If you follow me on my Instagram, @TheNorthernPrepster, or my Disney Instagram, @FlyingElephantAdventures, you’ll see I recently went to Wine Bar George for brunch. Wine Bar George opened at Disney Springs in Walt Disney World in May of 2018. They are well known for their selection of over 140 wines offered by the bottle, glass, and ounce. The “George” in Wine Bar George is George Miliotes. George is one of just 256 Master Sommeliers IN THE WORLD, which means he’s a top-notch wine expert and really knows his stuff! I also have to mention that I found out while doing research that he is the grandson of Greek immigrants, and for those of you who don’t know, I am a very proud Greek myself.
I just want to give a HUGE thank you to the team over at Wine Bar George for hosting me! I had such a great time and enjoyed every second of my meal and experience. And thank you to my readers for opening doors for opportunities like this. Let’s dive into the review of this unique restaurant experience!
Prior to this dining experience, I had only ever gotten one drink at Wine Bar George, which I purchased at their walk-up called The Basket. The Basket offers a great range of sandwiches, drinks, and snacks. The best part is that you don’t need a reservation! They also have a super fun deal that when you buy $60 or more worth of food and drink they include an actual picnic basket for you to take with you. So if you’re looking for a fun date night idea, or just something more casual, check out The Basket. Here is a link to their menu.
When we walked into Wine Bar George, we were taken to the second floor for our dining experience. They had a variety of seating including tables, bar seating, and even some comfy couches. If you prefer to dine outside, they even have a balcony overlooking some of the other Disney Springs attractions. I loved the modern, yet rustic feel that the decor brought to life. It made for a comfortable yet unique dining experience.
We couldn’t go to Wine Bar George and not get drinks! Since the temperature has been in the 90’s here in Florida we all decided to get one of their frozen drink options. I’m not gonna lie, I’ve only been 21 for about 6 months so I am still learning what I like when it comes to alcohol and I seem to be pretty picky. But all of these options I genuinely enjoyed and could’ve easily finished a full glass with my meal.
Grant enjoyed the Frozcato ($13), which is made with Pineapple Dole Whip, Moscato, and vodka. Yeah, you read that right! This drink legit tastes like a Dole Whip smoothie; so sweet and refreshing. I highly recommend this for people who may not like a straight-up alcohol taste. The vodka isn’t as strong in this drink as the others we tried, probably since the Dole Whip is masking it to an extent. I would definitely get this again!
Ashley enjoyed the Freaujolais ($13) which is made with Beaujolais, vodka, and raspberry. I had the Frosé ($13) which was rose, vodka, and strawberry, definitely my personal favorite out of the three. While all of these were on the sweet side, the Freaujolais was the most bitter of the three frozen drinks. I would put the Frosé between the Frozcato and the Freaujolais, not bitter but not as sweet a the Frozcato. In my opinion, they were all delicious but all totally different. If you’re looking for something sweet I recommend the pineapple option, if you like a more bitter wine go with the raspberry, and if you want something in the middle go for the strawberry Frosé.
We decided to treat ourselves to some appetizers as well! We decided on the hummus ($10) and the crispy mac and cheese bites ($12). I was hesitant about the mac and cheese bites, since I am not normally big on fried food that isn’t chicken or potatoes lol. But I am so glad we tried them! They were SO GOOD! It was more breaded and not so much deep-fried, if that makes sense. The mac and cheese was still warm and gooey on the inside, and overall delicious! The hummus was served with naan bread, my fave, and cucumbers. We were all huge fans of it! I was shocked at how much I enjoyed it with the cucumber. I was also pleasantly surprised when our waitress offered us extra naan and cucumber since we had a lot of hummus left. I would definitely recommend both of these!
Finally, we moved on to our entrées. I got the sausage gravy and biscuits ($17) (I also added eggs which is $6 extra), Grant got the french toast ($17), and Ashley got the steak & egg frites ($25). I was pleasantly surprised at the prices of the dishes for the size of them as well as the quality. You could truly taste how fresh everything was.
My gravy and biscuits dish was a great size! I even ended up giving some of it to Grant. I also loved the bacon bits on top – delicious!
Grant loved his french toast topped with fresh fruit and a delicious caramel sauce. He’s still talking about it!
I couldn’t believe the size of the steak dish. For only $25 you get a huge helping of fries and steak topped with some eggs, making it the perfect brunch meal! It was so hard for us to pick our entrees since everything sounded so good, but these three are definitely worth trying.
Unfortunately, we didn’t save room for dessert despite their cinnamon bun and rose cookie both calling my name. Maybe next time 😉 Overall, we had a fantastic meal at Wine Bar George! I would definitely go back to try both their lunch menu during the week or their dinner menu in the evenings. I was somewhat surprised to see for brunch that they only offered 6 dishes. But the number doesn’t matter at all when they’re all so well made and delicious – definitely quality over quantity. I was also pleasantly surprised to see George himself walking around and talking to customers as we dined. It really made for a personable experience, which I love!
You can make your own reservations for Wine Bar George here. Their brunch is served Saturday and Sunday 11am-3pm and lunch is available Monday-Friday 11am-3pm. You can also visit in the evenings for dinner to enjoy their family-style dishes, small plates, and their wide-variety of beverages.
I hope y’all enjoyed reading about my experience at Wine Bar George! This was definitely a huge win for this picky eater, and I will definitely be back! Leave me a comment down below and let me know if you’ve been to Wine Bar George or if you want to go. I’d love to hear your thoughts.
Thanks for reading!
