My Most Used Items of 2023

January 10, 2024 · In: Lifestyle

Happy New Year everyone! I can’t believe we finally made it through 2023. Last year was a year full of high highs and low lows. Overall, it wasn’t my favorite year – but I’m trying to focus on the good things from last year; buying a house, traveling to new places, running a half marathon, and more.

Last year I did a post on my most used items of 2022 and I figured I’d do it again for 2023. I love hearing about other people’s favorite items – especially right now when a lot of us have some holiday money or are looking to make purchases for the new year.

Enjoy!

ChappyWrap Blanket

I know at this rate y’all are tired of me talking about ChappyWrap. But this is something I literally use every day and sleep with every night. Grant and I are constantly talking about getting more as well. If you’ve been considering getting one, take this as your sign!

Pimple Patches

This items is certainly not glamorous – but something I use often! I’ve used this brand for years – I believe I originally tried them in a PR package. There are so many brands out now but I will say these are much cheaper than some of the more “trendy” brands – and they work! These are great to keep on hand if you’re acne prone like me (and if you tend to be a picker like myself).

Beats Headphones

Last year for Christmas Grant got me a pair of Beats. This was my first ever “nice” pair of headphones and I am so happy he got them for me! I use these daily at the gym, I use them on airplanes, etc. Obviously being Beats the sound quality is great. But they also hold a charge very well, and they come with a cord if you can’t connect to something via bluetooth (like the treadmill tvs at the gym). They’ve been a game changer for me!

Handheld Vacuum

Can you tell I’m in my homeowner era? Truly I wish I would’ve gotten one of these sooner! Having a small handheld vacuum accessible has changed the way I live and keep things tidy. It’s so easy to use when there’s a small mess or spill, or even when I notice our rug getting a little dirty – but being too lazy to haul out the full size vacuum. I’ve even been using this to vacuum our stairs. We haven’t gotten a new large vacuum since moving, so this has helped us to to hold off on getting one. The battery life isn’t amazing – but good enough to use as needed!

Tarte Amazonian Clay Foundation

This has been my go-to foundation for a little over a year now. And now that I’ve finally repurchased I think it deserves to be on this list. I don’t typically splurge on more “expensive” foundations – but this one lasts me a while since I don’t wear makeup every day. I have found that it applies best with my hands and it’s truly a full coverage foundation, which I prefer.

Palmer’s Coconut Oil Body Lotion

It can be so hard to find a great quality body lotion – something that truly keeps your skin nourished. After years of trying random body lotions here and there I finally landed on this and have repurchased numerous times! Even my parents have helped themselves to my stash when we’ve traveled – everyone loves it. Plus, it’s a great price and can be purchased just about anywhere.

Hanky Panky Underwear

If you follow any sort of woman content creator, you’ve probably heard them mention Hanky Panky. I was always skeptical until I got some for myself a little over a year ago, and I can confirm they are a total game changer! While they are pricey they’re 1000% worth it. If purchasing be sure they’re the original lace fabric!

Slip Silk Hair Ties

I know I’ve mentioned these in a few gift guides over the years – and that is because these are a product I’ve used daily for years! They are my favorite hair ties by far. And call me crazy – but I feel like the higher price point compared to traditional hair ties I feel that I take care of them more.

Rare Beauty Liquid Blush

I know so many talk about this blush – but for a good reason! I love that it’s buildable. I love that you can wear it with heavy or light makeup. Plus, a little goes a long way so I’ve been using the same bottle for a good while.

UGG Slippers

I’ve had two pairs of UGG slippers over ~10 years or so and they are my absolute favorite. Especially being a new homeowner and not having a ton of carpet in the areas we spend the most times – my feet do get chilly! These hold up really well considering how much I wear them – and the soles make it so you can even run outside to get the mail in them.

//

I hope you enjoyed this little round up of my favorites for 2023! I know it’s always helpful to hear what products people are loving – especially if you were contemplating them yourself. So here’s to 2024 and I hope to spend more time with you all this year!

Cheers!

xoxo

Genuinely if I have $1 for every time I’ve been told I ā€œdon’t belong in Western PAā€ - I’d have enough money to move to the southern city of my choosingšŸ˜‚ But seriously - I’ve gotten these comments since I was in middle school!

I’ve heard it said PA is 10 years behind on fashionšŸ‘€ I can confirm people don’t understand me or my Lorna Murray hat I bought back in 2022šŸ‘’

Getting vulnerable for a second: I love creating content and blogging but photographing myself lately, especially on this trip, has been rough for my self-esteem. While curating this post I was second guessing even posting these pictures because I didn’t like the way my body looked. Over the past month I’ve been on a regimen of medications that have thrown my body through a loop have had me not feeling myself. Even a ā€œhealthyā€ diet and daily exercise can’t reverse the side effects I’m experiencing and it’s been hard for me to reconcile that. In this process I’ve been reminding myself I don’t look at others around me or people I follow online and analyze their bodies or looks.

So this is your reminder that we’re overthinking ourselves more than others are thinking about us. And it’s easier said than done, but give yourself grace through all seasons of lifešŸ¤

ā€¼ļøTLDR: Overall it was as chaotic as I expected so I was neither impressed nor disappointed. However I’m unsure how things will suddenly be running smoothly at the opening that’s just 2 weeks away.

✨I’ll start with our highlight which was mainly Super Nintendo World! I was a big Nintendo kid so this was very anticipated for me. While the rides were meh the land is extremely immersive. I do wish we had more time to explore the games you can play with the power up bands!

šŸ”As for food we didn’t eat a ton but had lunch at Oak & Star Tavern (BBQ) which was much better than I expected! Not the best theme park food I’ve ever had but definitely better than anything I’ve had at Universal in the past. We also got a frozen melon apple drink in Nintendo that was perfect for a hot day!

šŸ‰Isle of Berk was cool overall but for such a niche IP I wasn’t really interested. The one ride we rode in the land - Hiccup’s Wing Gliders - ended up being our favorite!

šŸ§Ÿā€ā™‚ļøDark Universe was a tad underwhelming. I was really looking forward to it but it didn’t really do it for me. At night it was cool but the ride wasn’t as good as I was expecting. I’ve heard quotes that this is the ā€œmost technologically advanced ride in the worldā€ and that’s simply not true. However the ride wasn’t as scary as I thought it would be!

šŸ‡«šŸ‡·Magical Paris was neat despite me not being a Harry Potter fan. It really felt like Paris! However the lack of attractions there is a huge problem.

šŸŽ¢Despite it being technical rehearsals to me does not justify the amount of rides that were either completely shut down or broke at some point. Only 2 attractions in the entire park had zero issues all day. We rode 4 attractions since everything else was closed (2 would’ve caused motion sickness). I don’t see how these will magically be working in 2 weeks. The closures caused long wait time and chaos in every aspect. At opening they had no system for filtering people into queues in a reasonable manner. Something Disney figured out decades ago.

Glad we went and experienced something new! #epicuniverse
