The first trimester is not for the weak… I struggled A LOT, and even into my second trimester my nausea still appears day-to-day. Here are the products that I truly could not have gotten through the first trimester without! From nausea remedies, to what helped me get a good night’s sleep, and even what helped me hide the bloat.
Enjoy my first trimester essentials!

Theralogix Prenatals
There are so many prenatals on the market, but this is what I’ve been taking! This brand is specifically what my fertility clinic recommended for both conception prep and pregnancy. You take three vitamins each day – prepackaged making it easy to remember all three.
B6 Vitamins
B6 is a pretty standard way for clinics and doctors to recommend combating nausea. I’m not saying it works for everyone, and honestly some days it didn’t work the best for me – but I did take it consistently for weeks! This is NOT the exact brand I used, I bought mine at a local health food store. BUT, when purchasing check your doctor’s recommended guidelines as B6 is often sold as 100mg in stores like Target, while my clinic recommended I only use 25mg a few times throughout the day. Also note that B6 gives you energy, so I try to not take it past 6pm.

Unisom Tablets
Truly my saving grace when it has come to sleep and managing morning nausea! I honestly don’t *love* that I’ve taken these nightly since week 8, but you gotta do what you gotta do to survive. My clinic even said I could take this during the day with a B6. However, I did not react well to that protocol. I’ve been set on taking 1/2 a pill each night before bed. It helps me get a full nights sleep and allows me to hold off on my nausea until about 10am. You do not have to get the Unisom brand, I use a generic Doxylamine Succinate.
Preggie Pop Drops
I used these in both of my pregnancies and they’re a great nausea distraction! I recommend getting this variety pack to start, but if there is a specific flavor you prefer they do sell them in individual flavors and in larger packs. My person favorites are the apple and raspberry. I keep these everywhere – in my purse, in the car, in my travel bag, etc. If you’re in a pinch any sour candy also tends to help nausea – like Jolly Ranchers or Sour Patch Kids.

Pregnancy Pillow
It is NEVER too early for a pregnancy pillow! I doesn’t matter if you are showing or not – I got one around 8 weeks and I wish I would have gotten one sooner. I’ve personally loved this one, and I got it with the cooling pillow case. As a hot sleeper – I approve! I honestly wish I would have purchased one during my egg retrieval since I was so bloated and uncomfortable. While you may not have a “bump” during the first trimester the bloat is SEVERE. This makes sleep so much more comfortable.
Affordable Leggings
These leggings have been my go-to for pregnancy. While not maternity – they’ve worked for me so far even when I’ve been very bloated. I’m not going to acti like they’re the best quality – they do pill after some wear and washes. But they’re pretty affordable and comfortable and just what I’ve needed. I’m still wearing my pre-pregnancy size of M. I’m constantly wearing these with a sweatshirt or baggy tee.

Low Rise Gauze Pants
The first place I tend to gain weight is my lower body – so everything starts to rub pretty quickly. These pants were a lifesaver for me during our three first-trimester Florida trips! They’re low rise, super baggy, but breathable. I typically just wore them over my swimsuit or when lounging in the hotel room – but I think they could be styled as regular pants too. These will stay an essential for my whole pregnancy! I sized up to a large but they are super baggy.
Hill House Nap Dress
Nap Dresses have been a wardrobe essential for me for years – and that will not change during pregnancy! If I want to feel put together, yet comfortable, this dress is the key! I have both worn my standard size of a S and sized up to a M just for some fit variety as my body changes. The great thing about the smocking is that there is a lot of give before something looks too big or small. I’ve also worn the Scarlett style during pregnancy in a M and it was worked great!

Cakes Body Nipple Covers
One thing about me is that I will NOT be wearing a normal bra in pregnancy. I finally tried cakes for the first time on our March trip to Florida and I’ve loved them! They work perfectly with my Hill House dresses as well as tanks and other items that don’t have a built in bra.
NIKIBIKI Bralettes
I’ve talked about Nikibiki bralettes for a few years now, and pregnancy has just made my love for them stronger! They come in one size, are super stretchy, and are so comfortable. While they don’t have padding they would work great with the Cakes! The band on the bottom is thick yet comfortable so it does give some support. I’m probably closer to a 34DD at this point – my chest has already grown a lot – and these still fit me perfectly. I sleep in these ones that are thinner to help with my breast sensitivity.
