The Wave… of American Flavors Easter and Mother’s Day Brunch Review

April 22, 2019 · In: Disney World, Travel

Hey y’all! I hope y’all had a great Easter weekend! On Easter Grant and I headed to Disney’s Contemporary Resort for their brunch. Today’s offerings were a bit different from usual from my understanding, but according to the website they will have the same offerings on Mother’s Day if you are interested.

I first went to The Wave years ago when they first opened and I wasn’t a fan honestly. But after dining there during Hurricane Irma in 2017, I would say it’s pretty good! Funny enough we even had the same server on Easter as we did back during Irma. But let’s get into it!

*I also want to apologize in advance for the photos. The lighting is not very good in the restaurant and I didn’t want to be a nuisance with the flash*

For both Easter and Mother’s Day The Wave offers a great deal when it comes to Disney sit-down dining. It was a flat rate of $40 for adults and $23 for children. Unfortunately, since it was Easter we were unable to get an Annual Pass discount, and I’m assuming the case will be the same on Mother’s Day. But for that flat rate you got a non-alcoholic beverage, an entree, PLUS the buffet. They had a variety of entree offerings ranging from breakfast options like eggs Benedict as well as dinner options like strip loin steak.

The buffet offered wide variety of choices, from fresh fruit to dessert! They had a few salad options including caesar salad, harvest salad (strawberries, etc), farro salad, antipasto salad, and shaved brussel sprout & bacon salad; a variety of fruits, yogurts, and toppings to build your own parfait; some savory options like smoked salmon, tomato bisque, citrus shrimp, cheese, and charcuterie; oh, and I couldn’t forget the variety of breads and pastries. 😉 Some of my favorites were the tomato bisque and smoked salmon. Grant was a fan of the citrus shrimp and harvest salad.

As for entrees I enjoyed the eggs Benedict and Grant had the strip loin. The Benedict was served with breakfast potatoes and while it wasn’t the BEST Benedict I’ve ever had, it was still pretty solid. Grant’s strip loin was cooked to perfection and was served with mashed potatoes and green beans. He really enjoyed it!

The dessert side of the buffet were mostly Easter themed items, so these may vary for the Mother’s Day buffet. Some of the more “normal” offerings were cookies, funfetti cupcakes, and a strawberry bar. Unique items like carrot cakes, Peep mousse, key lime tarts, and chocolate cheesecake were also offered. Most items had a Easter or Spring decoration on them. Our favorites were the carrot cake and chocolate cheesecake! But I will admit, we both HATE Peeps, but we wanted to try the mousse anyway, and it was actually pretty good.

Overall, I think this was/is a great option for Easter/Mother’s Day! There really was something for everyone. The Wave definitely isn’t my favorite restaurant on property, but I can see myself going back at some point. I will attach a link HERE to Disney’s website with the menu so y’all can see their “normal” offerings. Leave me a comment and let me know if you’ve been to The Wave, or tell me what Disney restaurant we should try next.

Thanks for reading!

xoxo

While this Christmas photo looks different than pl While this Christmas photo looks different than planned this year, I hope you all have a very Merry Christmas surrounded by peace and love🫶🏼

My prayer is that next year brings the blessings we hoped and prayed for this year, whether those things are big or small.

I’m so glad we decided to take a pit stop at @mo I’m so glad we decided to take a pit stop at @morganjuliadesigns brand new Jersey City location on our way home from NYC🫶🏼 This only added about 20min to our trip which was well worth it!🪡 Such a beautiful shop with so many great canvases👏🏼

Some tidbits from our trip as a NYC first-timer🚕

We stayed at @omniberkshirenyc - overall we enjoyed our stay! The location was perfect (right in between 5th Ave & Madison Ave) and was a short walk to Rockefeller and Central Park. Only complaint is that the rooms were very hot (75*+). They also had valet parking that we utilized. We drove into the city and while time consuming it wasn’t as stressful/difficult as we had imagined. I’d certainly drive in again.

Our highlights were @therockettes and walking through Central Park. We walked everywhere with the exception of a boat ride we did. We booked a car through RideLux for that which I do not recommend, about equal service to Uber for 2x the price.

The boat ride with Classic Harbor Line felt like it wasn’t worth the $100/pp price tag. Seeing the Statue of Liberty up close was neat, but that was about it. Also, if you get sea sick CHL is NOT for you!

Shopping overall was underwhelming, but we did hit the classic FAO Schwarz which regardless of the long line this time of year was a must-do! We got there 10min before opening and only waited about 10min after opening to get in.

As for dining we did some quick spots around the city including Springbone Kitchen - perfect for a fast casual but healthy meal - we did pick up and took it to our room! Ralph’s Coffee in UES was also on my must-do list and honestly it didn’t disappoint! I’ve been to the Paris and NYC locations now and both times it’s been delicious and the perfect drinking temperature, even if you do have to wait a bit. For dinner we got a same day reservation for BG at Bergdorf’s - the food and service were great and reasonably priced imo!

I’m so happy we got to experience NYC at Christmas as it’s been on my bucket list my entire life! I love a trip filled with firsts, since they’re what make lasting memories!✨

Somehow at 27 I had still never been to NYC until now🌃 I’ve always dreamed of going to NYC as a little girl, especially at Christmas! Today dreams came true with a visit to Radio City Music Hall to see @therockettes and it did not disappoint👏🏼 I’ll be sharing more tidbits from my trip over the next few days🚕

30 hours at the most festive place on earth🏰🎄

We booked this trip after my miscarriage so we could get out of town, even just for a night, and embrace ourselves in holiday magic✨ While nothing will take away the pain and heartache, distractions help the days pass faster🤍

Next week we’re off to NYC for a few days full of firsts!🚕 Defintiely nervous but excited for this bucket list trip✅
