Hey y’all! A few weeks ago on my YouTube channel I took you along on a journey to Disney’s Yacht & Beach Club’s Ship Shape Spa for a Character Couture Makeover. You can watch that video here. But today I wanted to give you a run through of my experience and my thoughts on the Character Couture Makeover!
This experience is often compared to Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique. What are the differences? Well this experience is open to both adults and little ones. This experience is offered at a few of the spas and salons at Walt Disney World resorts, including Ivy Trellis at Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa, La Vida Salon at Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort, and Salon by the Springs at Disney’s Wilderness Lodge.
There are a few different “packages” available depending on what you want done and age; these prices range from $50-$120. I got the $120 Timeless Transformation package which included hair (with a real crown), makeup (eyes, lips, no foundation, included fake eyelashes), and nail polish application (just normal nail polish and top coat). Storybook Style is a character-inspired hairstyle, and the Magical Makeover includes hair and makeup. Here is my “before” photo.
Upon arrival I was asked to choose from a large selection of nail colors. I was also asked by my stylist what look I was going for. They encourage you to come with a character in mind and they can base your look off of that character. From my understanding a variety of hair accessories are offered including a crown, flowers, and Minnie-inspired bows. I asked for a Belle look with half up, half down hair and gold makeup.
When it got to my hair style my stylist made sure to ask me questions to get a look I wanted and would work for me. I mentioned I was planning to go out that evening for my birthday (my appointment was at 10am), so she made sure to curl my hair tighter so it would last. She topped it all off with a crown.
She then did my makeup – I asked for neutral browns and some gold for sparkle – and she did a great job! I was also surprised that she applied fake eyelashes. It is important to note that they don’t apply foundation or any cheek makeup. They only apply eyes and lips, so you’ll want to plan accordingly. I have heard you can get foundation and such applied for an additional $25.
Overall, I think this was a great experience! I would do it again, but probably for Mickey’s Not So Scary Halloween Party or perhaps Dapper Day. I think this is a great experience for girls who have aged out of Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique. However, I would still recommend Bibbidi Bobbidi for kids of appropriate age.
I think I covered just about everything! If y’all have any questions about the experience, feel free to leave a comment below. And shoutout to my sister for gifting me this experience for my birthday, it’s something I’ll never forget!
Thanks for reading!
xoxo
